Special investment retention and benefit restrictions apply.

Property or securities must generally be retained for ten years, and vehicle disposal is restricted for four years. Paid dependent employment is generally barred unless the Executive grants an exception. A passport under this provision requires Executive authorization and does not by itself confer citizenship.

Documents to discuss in your case review

  • Evidence of retirement
  • At least US$1,500 monthly pension or other foreign-generated income
  • Qualifying home worth at least US$100,000, or Uruguayan public securities of at least US$100,000 under the stipulated custody arrangements

This is a preparation overview. The responsible authority may request additional evidence, and requirements depend on your circumstances.

Plan the sequence before ordering documents

Confirm the procedure, issuing country and document format first. Apostilles, legalizations, translations and appointment timing can affect what you need to prepare and when.

If you have dependents, previous residence in several countries, or a change of name, include that context in your inquiry. Leave passport numbers and sensitive records out of the initial message.
