At a glance

Generally six months to two years, with category-specific renewals. Student permissions have separate periods; consult DNM for the course.

Workers' documentation must show the activity, contract period and remuneration or support meeting the published criterion. Do not assume every temporary category has identical renewal rules.

Documents to discuss in your case review

  • Entry identity document and visa where required, photograph and criminal records
  • Uruguayan health card and vaccination evidence
  • Activity evidence: employer letter and company records; educational certificate plus support; or religious organization letter and support

This is a preparation overview. The responsible authority may request additional evidence, and requirements depend on your circumstances.

Plan the sequence before ordering documents

Confirm the procedure, issuing country and document format first. Apostilles, legalizations, translations and appointment timing can affect what you need to prepare and when.

If you have dependents, previous residence in several countries, or a change of name, include that context in your inquiry. Leave passport numbers and sensitive records out of the initial message.
